The Season of Pentecost

Tongues of fire, the blowing of a rushing wind, and persons speaking in all different kinds of languages . . . this is the description of Pentecost that we are offered in Acts 2. Pentecost is an important, but oft overlooked, festival day in the life of the Church. It was at Pentecost that the Church was born, empowered by the Holy Spirit. God’s mission was further unleashed!

During my seminary days we celebrated Pentecost Sunday with three other congregations each year. These were called the Cross Current Churches – four churches that occupied the four corners.......more
